Fewer vacationers visit Turkey
Holiday bookings to Turkey has taken a dip after the attacks in recent weeks.
According to figures by travel trade association ANVR, Dutch people booked 36 percent fewer holidays to Turkey compared to the same period last year, NU reports.
TUI Nederland also noticed that customers are more hesitant about going to the country, as did Corendon. Corendon CEO Steven van der Heijden expects that the bookings will be even lower this week. "You always see it", he said to NU. "If there is a lot of hassle with a specific destination, people respond to it."
Over the entire season, holiday bookings to Turkey has fallen by 6 percent. Despite this, Turkey is still the most popular destination for holidays by plane from the Netherlands. Spain is number 2 on the list.
