Explosive material found at Jumbo store in July; 3rd in 2 months

A suspicious package found in front of a Jumbo supermarket on July 1 was found to contain explosive material that could be used in creating a bomb. The item was dropped off by an unknown person at the shop in Zwolle, Overijssel, police revealed Wednesday evening. It marks the third known incident in two months that an explosive was placed in front of a Jumbo store. A bomb was found at the Jumbo on Wilhelminakade in Groningen on May 9, and another was discovered on May 31 at a different Groningen location. Due to the size and unusual packaging of the item found on July 1, employees immediately telephoned authorities. Police officers are stationed at most Jumbo supermarkets due to the frequent amount of threats made against the franchise. Employees and customers are now told to take extra precautions with regard to any suspicious material or activities near Jumbo locations. Police ask that people not search packages themselves, and instead notify authorities.
