Foreign firms make up one-third of Amsterdam jobs

A third of the jobs in Amsterdam is provided by foreign multinationals - foreign companies with a subsidiary in the Netherlands. Over all of the Netherlands, foreign multinationals account for 20 percent of the jobs in the Dutch business world, compared to 23 percent for Dutch multinationals. This is according to figures that Statistics Netherlands released on Tuesday. The Randstad region and the south of the Netherlands have the highest concentration of fobs at foreign multinationals. The largest proportion is in Amsterdam at 32 percent, followed by IJmond at 29 percent and Noord-Limburg at 25 percent. The lowest proportion of foreign multinational jobs is in Zuidwest-Friesland at 9 percent. The distribution of jobs at Dutch multinationals - Dutch companies with a subsidiary abroad - is more evenly spread across the Netherlands. Jobs at Dutch multinationals are most strongly represented in the Delfzijl and surroundings with 30 percent of the jobs located there, followed by Zuidoost-Noord-Brabant and Noord-Limburg with 29 percent each. IJmond has the lowest proportion of Dutch multinational jobs with only 11 percent.
