Three men arrested for Winterswijk murder
Three men have been arrested in Moldova, France and Russia in connection with a violent home robbery during which one man was killed in Winterswijk in July 2014.
According to the police, the three Moldovan men invaded a home on Groenloseweg in Winterswijk on July 2nd, last year. They overpowered the female resident of the house and forced her to give up her bank card and pin number and then fled the scene. After the police arrived at the scene, they found the body of the woman's 52 year old husband hidden under a tarpaulin.
The three suspects were identified and found with the help of the Moldovan police. During the investigation the police made use of surveillance camera images showing one of the suspects using the woman's bank card at an ATM.
The first suspect, a 27 year old man, was arrested in France in mid-May. He has since been deported to the Netherlands and will be arraigned on Friday. A 28 year old man was arrested in Russia. According to the police, it may still be some months before he will be extradited to the Netherlands. The third suspect, a 28 year old man, was arrested in Moldova. As that country does not extradite its nationals, the man will be prosecuted before a court in Moldova.
