Eindhoven area cut off from drinking water

Residents of Eindhoven are temporarily without drinking water after a brief shutdown at a water production facility there, Brabant Water said Wednesday. Although the water shutdown was expected to last until 5 a.m., the firm was optimistic about the possibility of having the system online by 11 p.m. Wednesday night. The disruption also affected people in Helmond, Valkenswaard and Waalre, all in Noord Brabant. “At this moment, there is no water in the Eindhoven region,” Brabant Water said on Twitter at 9 p.m. “We are currently finding out what is going on.” “Fortunately, the water outage in Eindhoven was resolved. Apologies for the inconvenience,” the company said over an hour later. “Problems are still possible with the water delivery,” the company cautioned. Brabant Water did not immediately offer advice for customers whose taps start flowing again. Water companies often caution residents after a disruption in service, saying they should open their taps until water is running perfectly clear.
