Homes evacuated after Hague explosion

A total of 27 homes had to be evacuated after an explosion and subsequent fire in the basement of an apartment building on Goudriaankade in The Hague on Monday morning. The cause of the explosion is still unknown. A spokesperson for the fire brigade told RTL Nieuws that the outside wall on one side of the building was blown away. No one was injured and the residents were collected in two HTM buses. The flames hit a gas line, making the fire even worse. NOS reports that the network operator has turned off the gas. The fire has been brought under control. The municipality will inspect whether the building is still stable during the course of the morning.
