One of the men got into the car and pushed the female driver outside. One of the witnesses immediately ran towards the car to try and prevent the theft. When the hijacker saw him, he got out of the car and ran into Hofstraat. Several other bystanders detained the other man. One of the bystanders immediately called 112 and the police were able to quickly spread the description of the fleeing hijacker among patrolling officers. A short time later officers found the 22 year old man in Gravenallee and arrested him. The other suspect, the 18 year old man, was also arrested.
