TV mogul's extortionist demanded €5 million

The Public Prosecutor confirmed yesterday that 70 year old Dirk-Klaas M., who blackmailed John and Linda de Mol, demanded 5 million euros from the De Mol family, AD reports. M. was arrested on December 3rd last year after the police matched his DNA with traces found during the investigation into the extortion. He is still in custody. M. blackmailed the De Mol family between October 2013 and December 2014. He threatened to harm Linda de Mol and her children if John de Mol did not pay him sums of money. M., from Zeist, will appear in court for the first time on Tuesday on charges of extortion and threats. His case will not be handled in full as the investigation is still ongoing. M. confessed to extorting the De Mol family after his arrest, but has never given clear indications on his motives. He has stated that he didn't actually need the money he demanded.
