Oranje must play Azurri in Rome fundraiser: Mayor

The Mayor of Rome, Ignazio Marino, wants a friendly football match between the Netherlands and Italy to be organized, NOS reports. The proceeds of this match could then go towards repairing the damage caused to his city by Feyenoord hooligans last week. According to the newspaper, the mayor has received thousands of messages from Dutch football fans expressing regret about the riots before the match between AS Roma and Feyenoord in the Europa League. Marion will present his proposal for the friendly match to the Italian Football Federation FIGC. He hopes that the Dutch authorities will also support the proposal. At least 33 Feyenoord fans were arrested during the riots on Wednesday and Thursday. Rotterdam police, the prosecutor there and Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb have all pledged to track down any more Dutch fans connected to the incidents.
