Ghana man, 37, identified as Osdorp murder victim
The man who was fatally shot in Amsterdam's Osdorp neighborhood early Wednesday has been identified as a 37-year-old Ghanaian, Het Parool reports.
A.N., as Het Parool refers to him, was killed with an automatic weapon around 2:20 Wednesday morning in front of an apartment building on Wobrantskerkweg. He died at the scene. Attempts to resuscitate him proved unsuccessful. The gunman fled in a car.
Around noon, the body of the victim was still at the spot where he died. He had numerous gunshot wounds, including to the head and legs. Wednesday morning, detectives were undertaking a trace evidence investigation at the murder scene.
N. was not known as a criminal and thus far nothing points to N.'s murder being connected to other recent assassinations in the Amsterdam underworld feud. Unlike in recent assassinations, the getaway car has not yet been found. According to Het Parool, the victim had been living in Amsterdam for some time and is survived by at least one young daughter.
A camera was installed on the third floor of the apartment building after previous gunfire incidents, De Telegraaf reports. This camera may have recorded the shooting.
