Witness in dumped baby case quickly released

Investigators have talked to the man wanted in connection with the case of a baby found in an Amsterdam underground dumpster last October. Police released a composite sketch of the man late last year as their investigation ran cold The man spent time overseas following the incident, and turned himself in for questioning in Amsterdam on Wednesday. After taking his statement, police released the man, saying they believe he was not involved in the crime and has no information about who put the newborn in the trash container. The witness was urgently wanted because he was seen in a car parked on Fritz Conijnstraat, the street where the dumpster stood at the time of the incident on the 26th of October 2014. It has since been removed. Police referred to the man as a person of interest in the case, but never identified him as a suspect. A composite sketch of the man was made and distributed shortly after the baby was found.
