Two murders in one day stuns Twente

The Twente region was shaken by two murders yesterday. A corpse was removed from the Twentekanaal at Markelo and the 24 year old Joey Moes was shot and killed in Enschede. Yesterday the police arrested already arrested three men in connection with Moes' murder. Joey Moes was shot at the Twekkelerveld shopping center on Wednesday night. He died of his injuries in hospital. Messages of support for Moes' family flooded in through social media after his identity was made known yesterday. He leaves a girlfriend and a daughter behind. According to residents in the neighborhood, his murder may be linked to a 5 thousand euro debt that is still outstanding. The police yesterday announced that the body found in the Twentekanaal is that of a 24 year old resident of Almere. The man was wrapped in plastic and dumped in the Twentekanaal at the height of Meenweg in Markelo. Presumably this happened on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. The police did not want to say anything about the condition in which the body was found. They are investigating how the man was killed.
