Company bankruptcies drop nine percent

According to Statistics Netherlands, 487 businesses and institutions (excluding sole proprietorships) were declared bankrupt in November. That is 50 less than in October. Up until November, there were 6,124 bankruptcies of companies and institutions in 2014. That is 21 percent less than for the same period of 2013. The number of bankruptcies is still high compared to the years before the financial crisis. Only 3,420 business bankruptcies were pronounced in the first 11 months of 2008. More than 100 companies were declared bankrupt in Zuid-Holland and Noord-Brabant in November. Zeeland had the least bankruptcies.
