Amsterdammer gunned down while visiting parents
An Amsterdammer who reportedly had been moving around to avoid people who were out to kill him, died in a hail of bullets in Amersfoort early this morning.
Samir Jabli’s body was found around 2.45am in his car at Hendrick de Keyserlaan in the Zielhorst neighborhood. The 38-year-old man had reportedly been visiting his parents.
Shortly before he was found murdered, residents had heard gunshots; witnesses say that Jabli was struck by no less than seven bullets that were fired at him from a short distance.
The victim’s lawyer Louis de Leon told RTV Utrecht that Jabli knew he was in danger. The attorney said his client –who he spoke last week- had been moving around between Amersfoort, Amsterdam and Spain.
Police have launched an investigation into what exactly transpired before the shooting. The area was cordoned off and after daybreak Jabli’s car, with his body still in it, was transported to a lab for further forensic research.
Authorities suspect that a car that was found on fire in Baarn a half hour after the shooting, could be connected to this Jabli’s case. Baarn lies adjacent to Amersfoort.
