Broadcast tower the country's tallest Christmas tree

The broadcast tower in IJsselstein will this year again be made up as a Christmas tree. The lights on the tower will be lit between December 13th and January 6th. Every year money is raised to festively light the Gerbrandytoren. The organization has collected the required 65 thousand euro. At 372 meters, the Gerbrandytoren is the highest construction in the Netherlands. Around the holidays lamps are hung along the cables that stabilize the the tower. This gives the tower the appearance of a Christmas tree that can be seen up to 30 kilometers away in good weather. The tower IJsselstein has been decorated as a Christmas tree since 1992. Due to high costs and maintenance, this can not be done every year.
