Home price up slightly, still down 20% from 2008

Statistics Netherlands announced today that the prices on existing houses was 1.7 percent higher in September compared to the same month last year. That is the same increase as in August. For the past six months home prices have been higher than in the same period a year earlier. This is evident from the study of the price evolution of existing private homes in the Netherlands, done by Statistics Netherlands and the Land Registry. The average prices of existing homes are about as high as in the spring of 2003. Compared to August 2008, when housing prices reached their peak, the existing home prices declined with 19.2 percent.
