Prosecutor joins Diemen explosion investigation

The Netherlands Public Prosecution Authority (OM) is investigating the circumstances around the gas explosion in flat complex Breukenhorst in Diemen, which killed two people and injured 15. Investigators will measure culpability of the various parties involved in the incident, NU.nl reports. The OM in Amsterdam will investigate actions from the Gasunie gas company, the labour inspection SZW as well as the police, to see "if someone acted with culpability", an OM spokesperson says. Police earlier said that the explosion was probably caused because demolishing works in an elevator shaft may have hit a gas lead. Housing corporation De Key says that the residents of the 72 affected homes may be able to return Thursday or Friday. De Key will look for replacement living areas elsewhere in the region for the residents of 32 homes, which were worst affected by the damaged area around the elevator shaft.
