Half-million visit Rotterdam port open day

The World Port Days in Rotterdam this weekend drew a record number of visitors. 450 thousand people attended this event to have a look behind the scenes of Rotterdam's port. Dozens of ships and companies, along with demonstrations and a cultural program, were seen on and around the Meuse on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. According to news agency Novum, the newest and largest marine vessel, the Karel Doorman, attracted the most visitors. Over the weekend 20 thousand people per day went to have a look at the vessel. From Friday to Sunday there was a 200 meter long row of people, waiting to visit the ship. This year was the 37th time this maritime event was held. Last year the event in the Rotterdam port drew 400 thousand visitors. Several other events were also organized in the city.
