Another arrest in Amsterdam street shooting

update 11:25 a.m., 14 August 2014: A previous version of this story suggested the victim was still an owner of The Sand nightclub. He has not held an ownership stake in five years.

Another man has been arrested in connection with the execution of businessman Aytas Göraler earlier this year. Police arrested a 25-year old Amsterdam man on Tuesday in a Zwaag correctional facility, where he was being held for another crime. Police had previously arrested two suspects in connection with the execution on July 23 and June 18 this year. One has been returned to prison in Alphen aan de Rijn, and the other was released. Both men remain suspects in the case. Göraler was shot earlier this year on the Slauerhoffstraat in the Slotermeer district of Amsterdam. The execution was witnessed by his wife, eight year old daughter, and 1 year old son, who he held in his arms while under fire. Göraler died at the scene after being briefly revived by paramedics. The 39-year-old victim was the owner of The Sand nightclub for a few years, but he reportedly sold off his stake in the Westelijk Havengebied club in 2009 after going bankrupt. The gunman fled on foot before taking off in a getaway car.
