Ajax to pay for De Kuip damage
Dutch football association KNVB has sent Amsterdam football club Ajax a bill for the damage that the club's supporters caused at the cup final last May in De Kuip stadium.
According to RTV Rijnmond, the damage to chairs, interior and field caused by fireworks thrown by these supporters amount to around €70,000.
Shortly after kick-off, the match was interrupted for half an hour when fans from Ajax threw live fireworks onto the field for a second time. The supporters were banned from the following match against Heracles.
The KNVB is now waiting for a criminal investigation to come to a close before deciding further punishment.
In that final match in Rotterdam, PEC Zwolle won with 5-1.
