100 care home residents evacuated after fire

Around 100 care home residents had to leave the home Tuesday night after a fire broke out. The home, Het Lichtpunt, on the Homerusplein in Rotterdam, had around over 200 people affected by the fire. 100 of them had to stay in a hotel, with the others able to stay with family or friends, the police reports. On Tuesday afternoon, the residents were forced to leave the home after a fire broke out on the second floor. Smoke and water damage impacted the heating system and the lifts no longer worked. Ambulances brought 13 people to hospital to treat smoke inhalation. It is unclear when the residents will be able to return to their home.
