Scotch & Soda building burns down in Hoofddorp

A building in Hoofddorp used by Dutch clothing company Scotch & Soda burnt down, after a raging fire spread through the 6,100 square meter building early Friday morning. Nobody was injured. The fire department was called at around 12:30 a.m. by passers-by who saw that the building on the Parellaan was in flames. The building has partly collapsed, and is entirely ruined. It housed a warehouse and retail operation for the clothing brand. The fire department pulled out all the stops with five tank trucks and two ladder trucks. Firemen tried to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings. This worked, but there is smoke and water damage in the buildings. Readings had to be done for harmful matter was released into the atmosphere, as a lot of smoke came free during the blaze. It seems to be safe. Scotch & Soda signed a contract for the space in February 2013, according to Van Gool Elburg, the property firm that handled the transaction. Scotch & Soda rented 5,100 square meters of warehouse space and 1,050 square meters of office space on Parellaan. https://twitter.com/mvbergen/status/444266857575751680
