Council meeting Benno L. draws dozens
The council meeting in the town hall in Leiden, Thursday night, concerning housing arrangement for convicted pedophile, Benno L., drew dozens of attendants. The meeting was scheduled to start at 20:00. The extra meeting was inserted after the news came out that L. moved into an apartment in Leiden and the neighbors started protesting.
The mayor, Henri Lenferink, relies on the support of his Council, who supports his decision to let the convicted pedophile stay in Leiden. Earlier Lenferink went so far as to promise he would step down if it goes wrong with L. Other than a banner, there were no signs of a demonstration. Most people were just interested in being present during the meeting. Police are present on the square in front of the City Hall and visitors are inspected at the entrance.
