Warning on fake meter readers issued

Police issued a warning on fake meter readers after reports came in about people posing as meter readers, in Roden, trying to gain access to people's homes. Two well groomed, young, white men came to the home of an elderly woman on the Ceintuurbaan Noord, Monday afternoon.

They claimed to be meter readers and stated they would also like to see her last annual statement. The woman denied the men entrance after which they disappeared. A phone call to the power company quickly learned they were fake. Meter readings are usually sent in by mail of digitally, and for when the power company needs to send somebody over, the customer always receives a written notice in advance. Police are warning never to let anyone in for whatever reason, and to always ask for identification.
