Man drives car into group after argument
A 19-year-old man from Groesbeek was arrested on Sunday, January 19, around 02:30, for attempted murder and aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an accident, driving under influence, and threatening.
Earlier that night the suspect had gotten into an argument with a group of youths. He threatened the youths and at some point got into his car and drove into the group on the Cranenburgsestraat. Safe for one victim who was wacked on the elbow by a side mirror, and a 23-year-old woman who fell into barbed wire, nobody was injured. The woman was discharged from the hospital after treatment.
After driving into the group the suspect tried to flee the scene at high speed, but crashed into a parked car, after which he took off on foot. With the help of witness descriptions the police managed to apprehend him shortly after. His alcohol consumption turned out to be far over the legal limit (550 ug/l). His driver's license was seized.
