Cops seize 63 tons of fireworks

Until the first week of January, the police seized nearly 139,000 pounds of fireworks . This is clear from the fireworks barometer of the Public Prosecution, which keeps track of the fireworks catches since October. The total weight of seized fireworks has risen rapidly since the end of December. On December 30, the count was 120,000 pounds. Each year, an estimated 2.2 to 4.4 million pounds of banned consumer fireworks are sold in the Netherlands, according to the Prosecution. Before and after the turn of 2012/2013 the authorities seized 269,000 pounds of fireworks. The year before it was about 218,000 pounds.
