Cocaine found in 900 poncho knots at Schiphol
The Royal Military Police is investigating a 31-year-old Peruvian man, who was arrested Friday at Schiphol, on suspicion of drug trafficking. During a customs inspection 34 so-called ponchos were found in the checked baggage of the man, who had just arrived on a flight from South America. Further investigation revealed that presumably the knots of the ponchos contained processed cocaine.
Following the discovery the suspect was arrested by Customs and transferred to the Narcotics Investigation Team of the Military Police. Ultimately, almost 3.5 kilos of suspected cocaine was processed in the 887 knots.
Military Police detectives are investigating the case under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor of North Holland.
