NL To Pay Damages to Disturbed Soldier

The Netherlands Ministry of Defense will have to pay damages to soldier Dave Maat after being traumatized in the Dutch contingent of the United Nations in Srebrenica in 1995.

On Wednesday, the Dutch Ministry said that a deal has been made over the payment in line with the court decision provided beforehand. The ruling was issued in March supporting Mat’s complaint about his experience during the Srebrenica genocide where over 8,000 Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims) were killed in 1995. Based on the decision, Mat did not fully recover when he came back from the mission in Bosnia, which resulted to psychological trauma and stress.
