Dutch Goalkeeper Stekelenburg Joins Fulham

On Wednesday, Fulham announced the newest addition to their team: Former AS Roma goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg. He will replace Mark Schwarzer of Australia, who will be leaving Fulham, reports Reuters. Dutch goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg in 2011 (Paul Blank/Wikimedia) During his time at Ajax Amsterdam, the 30 year old Netherlands goalkeeper worked with Martin Jol, manager for Fulham. Throughout his senior career, Stekelenburg garnered a couple of Dutch titles. In 2011, he signed with AS Roma. Having known him for a very long time, Jol believes that Stekelenburg is an excellent goalkeeper. On the Fulham’s official website, he said that the keeper has exceptional qualities and skills. He believes that their newest player is a positive reinforcement to the talented team.
