Use of Drones Allowed
The police and the justice ministry are allowed to use unmanned airplanes to keep an eye on people as long as they adhere to certain conditions.
Jacob Kohnstamm, chairman of the Dutch college that protects personal details, College Bescherming Persoonsgegevens (CBP), says that the police must have reasonable suspicion to decide to film any one and images of people who are not suspects cannot be saved.
Last month commotion arose when it became known that the Ministry of Defense had 75 drones and used them regularly.
Kohnstamm says, according to Nu.nl, that a good example of when to use drones is Queen's Day in order to make sure that people are not squeezed to death by the huge crowd.
