A police employee working in Amsterdam was suspended under suspicion of sharing confidential information, and the unauthorized use of internal computer systems. The officer is at least the thirteenth employee from the Amsterdam office placed on leave in the last six months.

The worker was sent away on Wednesday. Police announced the decision a day later.

A police internal affairs unit is investigating the case in conjunction with the Public Prosecution Service (OM).

On Tuesday, prosecutors revealed that the homes and offices of two aldermen from political faction "Groep de Mos/Hart voor Den Haag" (GDM) were raided by officials in a bribes-for-permits investigation.

Mayor Pauline Krikke of The Hague is "very shocked" by the corruption investigation launched into two of her aldermen and a city councilor in The Hague, she said in a brief statement.

On Tuesday morning investigators of the Rijksrecherche searched the offices and homes of aldermen Richard de Mos and Rachid Guernaoui, a number of civil servants, and three entrepreneurs. The aldermen are suspected of accepting bribes for granting permits, among other things. A city councilor of Groep De Mos is also suspected of corruption, the Public Prosecutor announced.

Two aldermen in The Hague are suspected of bribery and corruption, the Public Prosecutor said in a statement. Their homes and offices in the city hall were raided on Tuesday by officers from the Rijksrecherche, an investigative department that handles investigations into government members and government services.

A 40-year-old police officer from the Zuid-West-Limburg district was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of computer intrusion and leaking police information, violation of official confidentiality, the Public Prosecutor announced.

So far the Prosecutor has no indications that the police officer leaked information to criminals or criminal organizations. "The investigation is still ongoing", the Prosecutor said. 

The officer will be arraigned on Friday.

The court in Den Bosch sentenced former police officer Mark M. to five years in prison on Monday afternoon. The 31-year-old man from Weert was found guilty of selling confidential police information to criminals for years, thereby earning at least 80 thousand euros. The sentence is equal to what the Public Prosecutor demanded.
