Consumers in the Netherlands can expect more increases in their energy bills in the coming years. In 2022, the energy bill will increase by at least 60 euros per year. And that increase may already be introduced in steps from 2020, homeowners' association VEH said to the Telegraaf.
The falling mortgage rate broke a new record on Monday. For the first time in Netherlands history, the interest for the longest fixed-interest mortgage period of 30 years dropped to 2 percent, AD reports based on figures from Actuelerentestanden.nl.
The mortgage provider that broke this record first was Reaal with its annuity mortgage called Lekker Wonen. The interest rate only applies to homes that are eligible for a National Mortgage Guarantee - homes with a value up to 290 thousand euros.
There are massive differences in the costs involved in getting a building permit for new homes from Dutch municipalities, according to homeowners' association VEH. The association wants Minister Kasja Ollongren of Home Affairs to put an end to the large differences in municipal building fees, Omroep West reports.
This coming year the municipal housing costs will increase by an average of 3.4 percent. In 73 municipalities those costs are increasing by more than 10 percent. The waste tax in particular is increasing significantly, according to homeowners association VEH, NU.nl reports.
On average the municipal housing costs, which include waste tax and sewage tax, amount to 774 euros. Homeowners in Bloemendaal face the highest costs. Property owners there have to pay an average of 1,330 euros to their municipality, 200 euros more than last year.
Property tax for Dutch homeowners is increasing by an average of 2.2 percent in the coming year, according to own home association VEH after surveying 111 municipalities. The outlier is the municipality of Cuijk, where property tax is increasing by 32 percent, from 259 euros to 342 euros. This comes on top of a 12 percent increase implemented last year, NOS reports.

New buyers who sign a mortgage with National Mortgage Guarantee and an interest rate period of 20 or 30 years, get duped when the move to a home that is not eligible for the National Mortgage Guarantee, the VEH said on Tuesday, NU.nl reports.
The association examined the moving conditions of 35 mortgage providers and concluded that clients of ING, bijBouwe, Allianz and Hypotrust Goede Start all fall into this trap.
