The newest and so far largest Dutch wind farm opened some 85 kilometers off the coast of Groningen on Monday afternoon. Gemini consists of 150 wind mills, over two fields each covering an area of 34 square kilometers. The mills are able to generate enough clean energy to power 785 thousand households, NOS reports.

Construction of this wind farm started in 2015. It cost a total of about 28 billion euros. According to contractors Siemens and Van Oord, the Gemini Park reduces Dutch CO2 emissions by 1.25 million tons per year.

Shell is teaming up with energy company Eneco and offshore company Van Oord to build a massive wind farm off the shore of Borssele in Zeeland .The wind farm will consist of about 100 windmills and will generate enough energy to supply a million households, AD reports.

Funding has been rounded out and the construction of the new sea lock, to be the largest sea lock in the world, at the IJmuiden can begin. The project, including construction and maintenance, will cost about 500 million euros.

Construction company BAM and dredging company Van Oord have been chosen for building a new container port in the British city of Liverpool. The deal is about more than 85 million euro. This was announced by the two companies on Wednesday.

The new container terminal will be commissioned by Peel Ports and will be situated at the river mouth of the river Mersey. The transhipment harbor will be made suitable for vessels with a loading capacity of up to 13,500 pieces of 20-foot containers, of which two can berth at the same time. The new port will be ready for use in 2015.
