The Dutch police teamed up with technology company The New Web (TNW) to showcase how the police are using technological developments to breathe new life into cold cases, track down suspects faster, and keep the Netherlands safer in general. 

TNW approached the police early this year. "At first sight it seemed to be a strange fit", TNW founder Patrick de Laive said about the collaboration on LinkedIn. "After a few conversations and brainstorms it became clear that the police would actually be a great partner as a great part of police work is transferring to a digital landscape."

The Netherlands power grid is not growing fast enough to keep uw with all the new technological developments, the Dutch Data Center Association (DDA) warned in a letter sent to Minister Eric Wiebes of Economic Affairs and climate on Thursday, AD reports.

According to the DDA, the Dutch digital economy is heading for a major problem due to acute capacity problems in the country's power infrastructure. The association also points out that it is impossible for the Netherlands to switch sufficiently to green electricity, because it simply can not be delivered.

A symposium held in Amersfoort last week showcased technological solutions that can help people with occupational disabilities find and keep a job. The symposium included technologies ranging from an augmented reality app that can show people with mild intellectual disabilities exactly how to disassemble and repair a ship's propellor shaft, for example, to an exoskeleton that enables users with physical disabilities to move their limbs and increase their strength, NRC reports.

Former minister Willem Vermeend was appointed the so-called liaison officer for the FinTech sector in the Netherlands. He will be the link between the FinTech sector, the government, industry and regulators and will work on solving problems for technology companies in the financial sector, the government announced.
