Between four and six meters of a centuries-old brick wall leading to the historic Hardewijk bastion, is missing. Part of the wall disappeared during renovations of the boulevard as part of a major urban renewal project. The intention was to only do some renovations to the ancient wall. How meters of it disappeared, is a mystery, Omroep Gelderland reports.
The Het Loo palace in Apeldoorn is largely closing on January 8th next year to undergo major expansion and renovations, which are expected to cost 123 million euros and take more than three years, the Telegraaf reports.
It is expected that the palace, which is now a museum, will only open again in mid 2021. In the mean time visitors can still access the stables and the gardens and some events will still be held. The entrance fee will be adjusted in this period.
On Tuesday the court in The Hague ordered the Naturalis museum in Leiden to "immediately" stop renovations to the building. The building's original architect Fons Verheijen filed a lawsuit saying that the renovations infringe on his copyright. The Hague court ruled that the renovations must be stopped until a court ruled on this lawsuit, NU.nl reports.
A court ruling on Verheijen's lawsuit is expected in May.
The Anne Frank House in Amsterdam is being renovated. The renovations will include a new, larger entrance on the Westermark and more space for educational visits, AD reports.
The former student housing on the Westermark will become part of the Anne Frank House, making more space available at the museum for educational tours and visitor facilities. The museum also plans to offer visitors more historical context, so that they can better experience the story of Anne Frank and her hiding place.
The court in Amsterdam left thousands of pages of confidential documents behind when it left the building for major renovations, the Telegraaf reports. Construction workers brought these documents to the newspaper.
