An international crime ring that imported thousands of kilograms of heroin to the Netherlands was broken up this week with the arrests of three people in Amsterdam and Dordrecht. Authorities said the drugs were brought to the capital to then be distributed back out to Germany, the Scandinavian countries, and the United Kingdom.
A passenger jet that crashed in Kazakshtan on Friday was produced and first tested in the Netherlands in 1996. Bek Air flight 2100 departed from Almaty, destined for Nur-Sultan, often known as Astana, but crashed about a minute after it took off at 7:21 a.m. local time.
The Fokker 100, with 95 passengers and five crew members, crashed into a two-story building just at the end of the 4,500-meter long runway 05R/23L. Some 15 people were killed in the crash, of which 14 died at the scene. Dozens more suffered serious or critical injuries.

The Dutch men’s national football team is expected to square off against the United States on June 5 in a friendly match, SI.com reported. The game would take place just one week before a critical Oranje qualifier European Championship qualifier against Latvia.
The Amsterdam ArenA will serve as the home base for the Dutch men's national football team in the run-up to the 2016 European Championship. Oranje will play all of its home matches in the qualifying round at the Amsterdam stadium, according to the national football association KNVB.
