Prime Minister Mark Rutte is not very optimistic about the European Union summit on the Greek debt crisis on Tuesday. During a parliamentary debate on the matter on Monday, the Prime Minister said that he does not want to hear any "rubbish stories" from the Greeks.

More than 61 percent of Greek voters voted "no" to the European lenders' proposals in the referendum on Sunday. Jeroen Dijsselbloem, Dutch Minister of Finance and current Eurogroup president, called the result "extremely regrettable".

The Dutch Finance Minister and Eurogroup leader Jeroen Dijsselbloem is hoping for another term as the head of the eurozone finance ministers. New appointment will be made in July and Dijsselbloem is expected to face competition from Spain's Economy Minister Luis de Guindos.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte will attend this year's meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland this week. Finance Minister and Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Lillianne Ploumen, and Minister for Health, Welfare and Sport Edith Schippers will also attend the forum in Davos.

Dutch Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem is no longer the leading candidate for position as European Commissioner. Instead, sources in Brussels and The Hague tell De Volkskrant that the Cabinet has placed Minister Frans Timmermans of Foreign Affairs at the head of candidates for Dutch European Commissioner.
