The news that Morocco is reintroducing military conscription from October 1st has many Dutch-Moroccans worried that they will have to join the North African country's army for a year. But the conscription will probably not affect Moroccans who do not live in the country, according to the foundation for Dutch-Moroccans SMN, AD reports.
Over the past ten years Dutch Muslims' faith became increasingly important to them, according to a study by social and cultural planning office SCP. The researchers attribute this partly to increased tensions between Muslims and non-Muslims and the feeling of exclusion that stems from that, NOS reports.
On Monday the police arrested four Dutch-Moroccan men on suspicion of involvement in terrorism. The men discussed an attack on the Turkish consulate in Rotterdam, the Public Prosecutor said in a statement.
