On Friday Iranians are voting in the first election since the country agreed to limit its nuclear program. In the Netherlands Dutch-Iranians can vote at the Iranian embassy in The Hague.

The two presidential candidates in this election are currently ruling moderate president Hassan Rouhani and lesser known candidate Ebrahim Raisi. According to ABC news Rouhani faced staunch challenge from Raisi over his outreach to the West in the nuclear deal.

People with a dual nationality are still welcome to travel to the United States, spokesperson Kevin McAleenan of the U.S. Border Guard said at a press conference. On Tuesday a number of Dutch-Iranians launched a petition against Donald Trump's decree to close the American borders for people from seven Muslim countries, which at the time seemed to include them.

A group of Dutch-Iranians launched a petition against American President Donald Trump's decree banning Iranians, and people from six other Muslim countries, from entering the United States. The petition, which demands that Iranians not be banned from the U.S., will be handed in at the Embassy of the United States in the Netherlands. "We also demand that the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and the Dutch Parliament defend our rights, as the citizens of this country." the petition reads.
