The Cornelius Haga Lyceum in Amsterdam will get no more funding from the government as of December 1st, Minister Arie Slob for Primary and Secondary Education said in a letter to parliament.

The Cornelius Haga Lyceum can stay open the upcoming school year, but only if the school directors are replaced. If a new interim board is appointed in the first weeks of the new school year, the pupils of the Islamic high school in Amsterdam can go to school as usual, Minister Arie Slob for Primary and Secondary Education announced on Thursday.

Intelligence and security service AIVD underestimated the social impact its official report earlier this year on Amsterdam Islamic high school Cornelius Haga Lyceum would have, AIVD director Dick Schoof said to the Volkskrant. The service warned Amsterdam that the school wanted to devote half of its curriculum to Salafist doctrine, causing an uproar.

The school management of the Cornelius Haga Lyceum in Amsterdam is guilty of "maladministration, conflicts of interest, and self-enrichment", but there are no indications that "some of the lessons have a Salafist character", NRC reports based on an unpublished draft report from the Education Inspectorate.

The controversial British Sharia preacher Haitham Al Haddad gave "covert" lessons at the Cornelius Haga Lyceum in Amsterdam, newspaper NRC reported on Friday based on a confidential official message that intelligence service AIVD sent to mayor Femke Halsema of Amsterdam in January. 

The message also says that other radical Islamic people were also involved in the school and that the school management funded a Chechen terrorist movement, according to the newspaper.

The police removed two balaclava-wearing men from the roof of the new Islamic high school in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. The two men were protesting against the school by hanging banners from its facade and shouting anti-Islam slogans like "salafism, terrorism". Boh were arrested, NOS reports.

Two men wearing balaclava masks climbed onto the roof of a new Islamic high school in Amsterdam Nieuw-West and hung an anti-Islam banner from the facade on Monday morning. The police are at the scene and trying to talk the men into getting off the school's roof, AT5 and Het Parool report.

A group of 15 Islamic primary schools in the Amsterdam region are calling on parents not to send their kids to a new Islamic high school set to open in the Dutch capital on September 1st. The board of the Islamic education foundation SIO "has no experience or affinity with education", the primary schools said in a joint statement, which is in the hands of NRC.
