The Amsterdam city council will launch a campaign against the possession of weapons in the city by the end of this year. The campaign 'Amsterdam disarmed' will start in Zuidoost, and then be extended to other parts of the city, the city council announced during a meeting in Zuidoost on Thursday, Het Parool reports.
Four underage boys were arrested in Groningen on Sunday just before two demonstrations in the city - one by anti-Islam movement Pegida and a counter protest by Groningen Tolerant. According to the police, they boys were arrested for being in the possession of fireworks and brass knuckles and not being able to identify themselves, GIC reports.
A few hours after the protests, the police said that the arrested boys seemed to have no connection to the Pegida demonstration.
Four Belgian men were arrested in Wernhout at around 4:00 a.m. on Monday. The police suspect them of assaulting at least two people with brass knuckles in Rijsbergen and Zundert during the early hours of Monday morning.
A group of masked men armed with hammers and brass knuckles recently attacked UberPop drivers in Amsterdam, AT5 reports. At least two of the UberPop drivers have filed charges against the group. The attacks occurred last week Tuesday.
A Dutch tourist was brutally attacked at the Bijeli San bar in Porec, western Croatia, after an argument over a bill in a cafe, according to local media there. After a dispute between the man and the bartenders, the bar staff reportedly beat the tourist, leaving him with fractures and a concussion.
