Bali bans two Dutch expats over run club accused of excluding locals
Bali’s Immigration Department has banned two Dutch expats from the island, ABC News Australia reports. The pair were accused of running a club called Entourage Bali that allegedly shut out local residents.
The pair, identified as JAS, 35, and HQV, 37, left Bali for Singapore on Wednesday night and have been placed on an entry ban list. Officials condemned the running events as discriminatory, saying foreign nationals have no right to set exclusive rules or act as event organizers inside Indonesia.
Online complaints had already gone viral. One Indonesian woman said her application was put on hold because of her local name and phone number, while her husband’s Western name and number were accepted at once. “Shame on you!” she wrote on social media.
In a public statement the organizers apologized, claiming the rejections were an unintended glitch in their automated WhatsApp system and that Indonesians still made up nearly a quarter of ticket holders.
They have paused all activities and promised changes. Immigration authorities remain unconvinced, insisting the episode showed a clear disregard for local people.
