Police release footage of suspect who shot 35-year-old Zaandam man in Rijen
Police have released surveillance footage of a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting in Rijen that injured a 35-year-old man from Zaandam on June 27. The suspect fled by bicycle after the shooting. He was later seen crossing a railway crossing in Hulten, where police say he passed both on his way to and from the scene. The suspect was wearing warm clothing on a hot summer day, which the police hopes might have helped potential witnesses to remember him.
The shooting happened at about 4:30 p.m. on Provinciebaan in Rijen. Police released the images Friday in the hope that witnesses can identify the suspect or provide information about his identity.
The footage shows the suspect in distinctive clothing for a hot summer, which police believe could help people recognize him. He was wearing a dark blue hoodie or jacket, a dark blue cap, a white face mask, and white gloves.
Anyone who believes they recognize the suspect or has information about the shooting is asked to contact police.
