Temps near 30°C this holiday weekend; Busy rush hour expected tonight
The Netherlands is in for some nice summer weather this holiday weekend, with temps nearing 30 degrees in many places and plenty of room for sunshine. Expect extra traffic on the roads on Friday afternoon due to people traveling for the long weekend.
Friday will be sunny and dry, with only the northern parts of the country seeing some cloud cover, according to the KNMI. Maximums will range between 24 and 27 degrees Celsius, north to south, with little wind.
Saturday will be abundantly sunny, except in the north, where there will be cloud cover and a small chance of a shower or two. Maximums will climb to around 29 degrees in many places. The northwest will be cooler at around 24 degrees due to a chilly sea breeze.
The ANWB and Rijkswaterstaat expect a very busy rush hour on Friday afternoon. “The sunny Pentecost weekend is just around the corner, and for many people, that's reason enough to hit the road. We expect a very busy Friday evening rush hour, which could start as early as the afternoon. Be well prepared if you're heading out onto the roads,” the infrastructure agency Rijkswaterstaat said.
“Many people are heading to campsites and holiday parks. The first traffic jams will start at noon,” the road users’ association ANWB warned.
