German teen arrested at Duinrell water park over alleged filming in changing rooms
Police arrested a 17-year-old boy from Germany at the Tikibad swimming pool in the Duinrell amusement park in Wassenaar on Ascension Day. He is suspected of secretly filming visitors in changing cubicles, Omroep West reported.
Around 4:15 p.m., police received a report of “disturbing behaviour.” Officers stepped in shortly after 5 p.m. The teenager was part of a group of youths causing disruption at the pool. He is suspected of using his phone to film over and around changing cubicle walls and doors while visitors were getting undressed.
The teenager was reportedly caught in the act by a vigilant visitor or employee. Security personnel held him until police were called to the scene.
Police officers who arrived at the scene arrested the 17-year-old suspect inside the subtropical pool area and transported him to the police station for questioning.
At least one victim has officially reported the incident to the police for offensive behaviour. Officers also collected statements at the scene from other possible victims.
Secretly filming inside changing rooms is regarded as a serious breach of privacy and is punishable by law. Police are continuing their investigation and are also analysing the boy’s phone as part of the inquiry.
