Timothy B., 33, sentenced to 17 years for killing his mother
Timothy B., 33, was sentenced Tuesday to 17 years in prison for fatally shooting his 52-year-old mother in the head, stabbing her four times, and sawing off her lower legs, which were never found, RTL reported. The court also ordered B. to undergo mandatory behavioral treatment under a measure that restricts his freedom.
B. shot his mother in the head in the kitchen of his home on the evening of Jan. 8, 2025. She also had four stab wounds to her throat, cheek, neck, and chest.
Police discovered the woman’s body the following day in the bathtub at B.’s home in Landsmeer. Her sawn-off lower legs have never been recovered.
B. confessed to the murder during a preliminary hearing in July 2025, telling prosecutors he could not remember mutilating the body.
“The man has not only killed his mother in a gruesome way but has also kept his family in uncertainty for a long time,” the court said in its verdict. “He has shown no remorse at any point.”
The Public Prosecution Service had sought 17 years in prison plus mandatory psychiatric treatment under a TBS order. The court found B. fully responsible for his actions, ruling that there was insufficient evidence to link his mental disorders to the killing. It therefore rejected the request for forced psychiatric commitment.
