Dutch man fatally stabbed at Bali villa; Police seek two suspects
A 49-year-old Dutch man was fatally stabbed Monday evening at a villa in Kerobokan, Bali, and police are searching for two suspects who fled the scene on a motorcycle.
The attack occurred around 10:50 p.m. local time as the man was preparing to leave the villa with his partner. Two men on a motorcycle reportedly approached and stabbed him with a sharp object, according to police statements reported by local media outlet Hey Bali.
The victim sustained multiple stab wounds. Emergency responders attempted to resuscitate him, but he later died in a hospital from his injuries.
Witnesses reported that one of the assailants was wearing a taxi driver’s jacket, while the other wore an orange T-shirt. The victim’s partner managed to escape after being briefly pursued by one of the attackers. The suspects fled the area on the motorcycle, according to the Jakarta Globe.
Police reviewing security camera footage said the attackers had been in the area for some time prior to the assault. Authorities largely ruled out robbery as a motive, as the victim’s personal belongings were left untouched.
