53-year-old woman fatally stabbed in Groningen; 29-year-old acquaintance arrested

A 53-year-old woman was fatally stabbed Saturday morning in a home on Natalie Barneykade in Groningen, and police have arrested a 29-year-old man from the city in connection with the killing, RTL reported.

Police said the victim and the suspect knew each other. The man was taken into custody “on suspicion of involvement in the incident,” according to a police statement.

The stabbing was reported around 10:25 a.m. in the northeast of Groningen. Police have launched an investigation at the scene.

Authorities first reported that the woman had been seriously injured but later confirmed she died from her wounds.
