Jetten I Cabinet appoints ministers of Interior, Economic Affairs

Pieter Heerma will serve as minister of Interior and Kingdom Relations, Mirjam Sterk as minister of Long-Term Care, Youth and Sport; and Heleen Herbert as minister of Economic Affairs.

Jo-Annes de Bat has been appointed state secretary for Climate and Green Growth, and Derk Boswijk as state secretary of Defense.

Sterk, 52, previously spent ten years in the Tweede Kamer and lived in the United States for several years. In her provincial role in Utrecht, she oversaw nature and agriculture. She also co-authored a 2007 parliamentary initiative on foster care.

Herbert currently serves as director at construction firm Heijmans, where she has worked for nearly 14 years, including as commercial director.

Boswijk serves as spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Defense and is a first lieutenant reservist. He has consistently advocated for increased support for Ukraine, stronger measures against Russia, and proposed steps toward recognizing Palestine last year. Other appointments previously reported include Bart van den Brink as minister for Asylum and Migration.
