Video: Truck driver killed in Bruchem crash with excavator; Two injured
A 59-year-old truck driver from Vught died Friday afternoon after his vehicle collided with an excavator on Molenveldweg (N832), near the intersection with Jan Stuersdreef, just across the provincial border near Zaltbommel.
The truck was severely damaged and ended up in a ditch alongside the road. The driver did not survive the crash. Omroep Brabant reports that an ambulance under police escort transported two seriously injured excavator operators from Opijnen to the hospital.
“This is an accident between a truck and an excavator,” a police spokesperson said. “The truck driver has died. Two excavator operators were injured and taken urgently to the hospital. We are conducting further investigation.”
Multiple emergency services responded, including police, fire departments, ambulances, and a trauma helicopter. The road was closed and cordoned off with screens while authorities investigated.
